Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American voice actor director producer, and vocalist. A beautiful and smart actor, she is an inspiration for many Asian actors looking to make it big in Hollywood. She gained fame after numerous popular role in a television series. The most notable was the Ally McBeal series, where she played Ling Woo the villainous character. The actress translated her sudden popularity into big screen roles in movies like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. She then delivered a superlative performance in the role of Japanese crime lord O-Ren as Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. She also played leading roles in the failures of box office films like Rise: Blood Hunter. Then, she was able to voice prominent characters in animation movies like Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason's character was in Cashmere Mafia, a small screen feature, failed to bring about the positive results. Southland was a critically acclaimed collection of police dramas, which featured Liu in recurring roles, helped her find her own identity. Liu carefully selects roles to prevent being stereotyped in the industry which is extremely competitive. Even though she's accepted her roots she has not let it limit her ability to express herself as an artist.
