Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other children. Her imaginative mind helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Even before learning to write and read, she composed her own tunes. She bought her first guitar at the age of 8 and began her singing career on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at 11 years old. At the same time, she recorded her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. When she was still in highschool she became famous locally however she longed for a bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she made the move to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton was appointed in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. She left the show after 1974 because her solo music, including Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene began charting the collaborations they had with each other. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and the song reached the top spot at No. Its first appearance at Number 1 was in 1974.
